Surtex 2011

May 6th, 2011

It’s now been a bit over a year working with PinkLight Design and I am very excited! My first ad on Print and Pattern made it onto the blog today. I have kept in my mind that ever since I found P&P that I would love to be in a post. Step one as a promo, step two as a featured artist? I will have to work hard to make that happen! Surrounded by amazingly talented artists at PinkLight and P&P I am really inspired to work extra hard at improving! I have learned so much every day this last year–I can’t wait to improve and grow as an artist and as a business person!  Every day I can see an improvement and it is so encouraging. I’ve learned in life that for me, trying new things takes tenacity, discipline, drive, humblepie
and a heaping dose of confidence to reach your goals!

MyLemonPie on Etsy

May 5th, 2011

I finally began posting my little illustrations on Etsy. Between working part time working for PinkLight Design, Heidi Grace Designs, freelancing and becoming a Certified Zumba Instructor, I managed to take a year to just get started on my site! It still needs a little work and I have TONS more to post! Please stay tuned, I have some great prints and originals coming your way!!!!

Yellow…are you there?

May 3rd, 2011
I’ve been having lots of lemon thoughts this year. Loving yellow and all the sunshine it brings.
Here in Seattle there is not a lot of sunshiny days, so why not add a splash of yellow to cheer myself up?

I looked around on Etsy and found these Fun Vintage drinking glassess from  rustycow.

I remembered my cute little lemon cupcake illustration from my summer birthday collection (available through pinklight design)

Then a dragged out my vintage find last fall. One of a very few vintage shopping trips I took in Georgetown just South of Seattle. My heart started racing when I thought someone else was going to buy it. AKA, no more shopping trips in Georgetown. I walked away with a very pricey little vintage ceramic pottery that sits in my guest room. But guess what? I still love it! It make me smile!!!

Finally, I put together a little collection of lemon inspired patterns for Surtex 2011 available through Pink Light Designs. Cute yes?

Bloedel Gardens

April 12th, 2011

April 9th we had the pleasure of visiting this stunning garden reserve on Bainbridge Island in Seattle.

Pix above are just a few of my favorites. I’d love to go back and see it in full bloom!

holiday fun 2010

January 3rd, 2011

My favorite time of day in my living room. The sunlight is always so lovely on the mantel!

My giant feather boa  wreath is just barely hanging in there! A refresher is in order!

Orbit in one of his favorite sun spots, tolerating my photo taking.

I tried out this hat pattern from the Paper Source for New Year’s Eve. So fun and simple. I found some fabulous beaded and sparkle paper and used an assortment of colored ribbon to match framed “2011″  embellishments I created with kraft paper and glitter.

With friends in our hats and my special, special New Year’s outfit gift from my friend Heidi. Thanks Heidi! We loved it!

Pumpkin Patch

November 12th, 2010

A lovely ferry ride away to the Bainbridge Island Pumpkin Patch and shopping in Paulsbo.

This was one of those incredible, smiley, happy days discovering happy new shops and restaurants with friends!

More little ones

August 27th, 2010

Just finished creating a little thank you package of cards for some friends. A set of  little Yorkies with a very girly shitsu inspired thank you card. All wrapped up in a lovely kraft box with some paper I designed back in April.

In the background is an awesome little vintage bedspread I found with pom pom fringe. it really cheers me up when I’m working.

Chelan

July 29th, 2010

I have become a complete “glamper”.

That is, I like camping as long as it’s hot, with a clean lake that I can swim in, and there are clean showers, restrooms, and nearby stores, wineries and restaurants to visit should I need a magazine, a bottle of wine, or toenail polish. All this equals C H E L A N!

I wasn’t going to go this year. Elliott had a guys camping trip planned, but his camp buddy backed out and I was left to pick up the pieces. We persuaded our friends “the Talls” to join us for a day or two.

We normally go with a variety of friends, and have downgraded in the past few years to either skipping altogether, or now camping, which ends up being pretty awesome as you’ll see below!

An awesome sign in CleElum. A stopping point between Seattle and Chelan.

Beautiful view from one of our favorite wineries in Chelan, Nefarious. This funny dog waits for you to come back to your car, then steals snuggles, pets and anything it can grab from your car while the door is open!View from our campsite.Yellow moments. Love the tab camper!Awesome black beans in skillet!
afternoon banter, Kolina in tow.
The cutest little muskrat along the front of our campsite. A pet toad this little one found and kept overnight, and a visit from a pack of Yorkies. After a day of boating, we end up at Tsillan Cellars for the incredible view and live  music.

All in all a really wonderful last minute camping trip!

New work!

Spring to summer garden

July 26th, 2010

My summer garden is coming along just wonderfully! It looks like the sumac tree may be a bit aggressive though, it looks like it’s taking over!

Here are some close ups of lovely blooms I collected and other lovely flowers I’ve planted.
